Our Story

Hello! My name is Govil Gupta, and I am a freshman at Stanford University. I founded Wonder Writers in January of 2008, as a freshman at Northwood High School in Irvine, CA. As I was growing up, I loved to write (and still do!), but noticed there were few places where I could submit my writing and be rewarded with prizes. I wished that there would be an outlet for my writing to be published and shared. Therefore, I wanted to create a portal for students to submit and share their writing, as well as motivate them to write. In addition to encouraging writing, I wanted to give back to the community by donating to charity. Through this combined vision, Wonder Writers was born.

Wonder Writers is an international not-for-profit organization for community benefit. (please note: we are not currently 501c3 tax-exempt)

We were created to encourage writing and to give a place for everyone to publish their work. Our mission is to promote the interest of writing for children of all ages. To follow this mission, we make writing fun by rewarding our young writers with great prizes.

Along with promoting writing, our goal is to donate to charity. We make this possible by selling our semi-annual publications. Wonder Writers would like to donate as much as possible to needy charities, and so far, we've raised over $10,000!

Thank you for your unwavering support! Wonder Writers has completed two full years! We have successfully finished 6 contests and have held countless workshops, and expect many more to come. Be sure to submit to our current contest!
